Target Audience

For research to see who my target audience would be I asked 20 people of different ages and genders to answer my questionnaire. This is my questionnaire:

My results show that 70% of males enjoy watching horrors however only 30% of females like watching them, in the end I chose my target audience to be based on age rather than gender. This pie chart represents the proportion of males and female who like watching horror films.

From my questionnaire the age that most enjoy horror films are people aged 18-21, 75% of the 18-21 year olds I asked said they like watching horror films however 63% of  15-17 year olds  like horrors. As a group we said it would be harder to aim our film at 18-21 year olds because they’re prefered subgenre of horror is Gore and we didn’t have the right material or imagination to create a gory film. As a group we also decided, based on our lack of material available, to create a psychological horror film and 50% of 18-21s chose this subgenre as their worse however 25% of 15-17 year olds chose this to be their favourite subgenre. Based on research we decided to rule out 10-14 year olds as our target audience because 75% said they don’t like them and 75% said their preferred subgenre would be comedy in order to break the tension and make it less scary!
